“Little” Big Band
In early 2020, the live music industry underwent many changes, and in response, the Minnesota Jazz Chamber Orchestra, owned and led by Craig and Cara Thrane for over 25 years, created a 9-piece "little" big band. This "chamber" band offers all the rich sounds of a full-size big band but in a compact format.
The Minnesota Jazz Chamber Orchestra teamed up with jazz and big band singer Courtney Burton in 2021 to create an unforgettable musical collaboration. Their performances blend classic swing with modern jazz sensibilities, captivating audiences of all ages. With Burton's captivating vocals and the orchestra's rich instrumentation, they play a repertoire that spans iconic swing-era works, which appeals to jazz enthusiasts and casual listeners.
Annual Holiday Shows
The Minnesota Jazz Chamber Orchestra traditionally has several holiday appearances. Most notable is the annual New Year’s Eve Show in Bloomington. In 2023, they appeared at stages across the Twin Cities Metro Area, including White Bear Lake, Bloomington, and Lakeville.
