About Singing Jazz | Podcast Part 2

Phil Nusbaum from KBEM Jazz 88.6 FM sat down with Courtney Burton a few days before her jazz combo Court's In Session was doing a live video event at A440 Studios in New Hope, MN.

Phil and Courtney discuss the beauty of performing in a "listening room," where the audience is there to soak in all the lushness of the music with limited distractions.  Courtney shares the experience the audience will have being part of a live recording event.

One of the reasons we wanted to invite people to be with us live recording versus just going in the studio is that there is an exchange that happens between musicians….. We need our fans; we need that energy from them, and we know that we provide time to chill out.
— Courtney Burton

This interview features samples of music featuring Courtney's mentors, Mel Carter Sr., Ruben Haugen, and Roger Bartlett. Check out these vintage recordings of Night and Day and Teach Me Tonight.
